An Enlivening Force
Cultivating Inspiration

We all know inspiration when we feel it. It is a force that enlivens us and activates us to do something-we might dance, sing, paint the house, or envision a new career. We might call an old friend or plan a trip abroad. Whatever the case, doing what we do from a place of inspiration makes all things seem possible. Inspiration sometimes comes out of nowhere, landing unexpectedly in the midst of your life and lifting you out of your habitual mind and into a higher level of seeing. However, we can be more intentional with our relationship with inspiration than just waiting for it to come to us. There are many ways to cultivate its presence, from journaling to scrap booking to visiting with a particularly interesting friend. Finding what inspires you and consciously cultivating it will give you access to new ways of thinking and energy you didn’t know you had.

Some people find that frequent trips into nature inspire them. Others have a box full of objects-a seashell, an old photograph, or even a collection of rocks-that does the trick. There are as many ways to find inspiration as there are people looking for it. If you already know what inspires you, find a way to incorporate it into your life on a regular basis. If you aren’t sure what inspires you, or if it has changed, take some time to think about it. When was the last time you felt the spark of your imagination? When was the last time you acted on an impulse that felt totally right? When we are in the presence of what inspires us, we hear our inner guidance more clearly and we have the energy to follow its cues.

If it has been a while since you have been touched by inspiration, you may feel listless and dissatisfied. Know that you can turn things around by remembering what lights you up and bringing that into your life.

Your Most Vital Commitment

Finding Time For You

Within each of there is a well of energy that must be regularly replenished. When we act as if this well is bottomless, scheduling a long list of activities that fit like puzzle pieces into every minute of every day, it becomes depleted and we feel exhausted, disconnected, and weak. Refilling this well is a matter of finding time to focus on, nurture, and care for ourselves, or “you time.” Most of us are, at different times throughout the day, a spouse, a friend, a relative, an employee, a parent, or a volunteer, which means that down time, however relaxing in nature, is not necessarily “you time.” Though some people will inevitably look upon “you time” as being selfish, it is actually the polar opposite of selfishness. We can only excel where our outer world affairs are concerned when our own spiritual, physical, and intellectual needs are fulfilled.

Recognizing the importance of “you time” is far easier than finding a place for it in an active, multifaceted lifestyle, however. Even if you find a spot for it in your agenda, you may be dismayed to discover that your thoughts continuously stray into worldly territory. To make the most of “you time,” give yourself enough time on either side of the block of time you plan to spend on yourself to ensure that you do not feel rushed. Consider how you would like to pass the time, forgetting for the moment your obligations and embracing the notion of renewal. You may discover that you are energized by creative pursuits, guided meditation, relaxing activities during which your mind can wander, or modes of expression such as writing.

Even if you have achieved a functioning work-life balance, you may still be neglecting the most important part of that equation: you. “You time” prepares you for the next round of daily life, whether you are poised to immerse yourself in a professional project or chores around the home. It also affords you a unique opportunity to learn about yourself, your needs, and your tolerances in a concrete way. As unimportant as “you time” can sometimes seem, it truly is crucial to your wellbeing because it ensures that you are never left without the energy to give of yourself.

Liquid Energy

Drinking Water

Water is life. As the planet is blanketed by nurturing salt seas and fresh water concourses, so are our own bodies, and those of all plants and animals, created from and provided for by water. We are bound to it and it to us so strongly that, as was discovered by Dr. Masaru Emoto, the vibrational energy projected by humans in the form of thoughts, words, ideas, intentions, and sounds has the power to alter water’s molecular structure. Dr. Emoto was working with magnetic resonance fields when he realized that the unique crystalline forms assumed by frozen water indicated that the water bore the imprint of not only its physical state, but also its spiritual surroundings.

The initial findings were simple: pure water creates beautiful, snowflake-like crystals while polluted water is entirely unable to form crystals and resembles mud. Dr. Emoto followed this by placing distilled water in front of speakers playing various forms of music, ranging from classical to heavy metal. Soothing, uplifting music inspired the formation of exquisite crystals, while discordant music forced the water to assume distorted forms. He found that positive or negative words and phrases typed on paper and affixed to bottles or simply spoken nearby created vibrations that enacted change in the water’s structure. Words like ‘love’ and ‘gratitude’ had a positive, cleansing effect on water and caused it to form pure, tight crystalline clusters. He also found that deep and focused prayer, even when spoken from afar, had the power to heal large bodies of polluted water. When the speaker was sincere, the words positive, the music beneficial to the soul, or the prayer pure in intent, Dr. Emoto found that the water retained the beneficial changes to its structure for some time.

Dr. Emoto compiled his findings in two-volumes entitled “Messages From Water.” Therein he explains how the effect of energy, both positive and negative, can now be clearly seen not only in water itself, but in all living things. As our bodies are mostly water, we are inexorably bound to the element and the molecular changes that occur in response to words, prayer, pollution, deeds, gratitude, and love. Positive energy will effect positive changes within our bodies and negative energy will effect negative changes. While it is empowering to realize that we possess such a level of control over our own health when we take action & have awareness.

Your body is estimated to be about 60 to 70 percent water. Blood is mostly water, and your muscles, lungs, and brain all contain a lot of water. Your body needs water to regulate body temperature and to provide the means for nutrients to travel to all your organs. Water also transports oxygen to your cells, removes waste, and protects your joints and organs.

How Much Water do You Need to Drink? A good estimate is to take your body weight in pounds and divide that number in half. That gives you the number of ounces of water per day that you need to drink. For example, if you weigh 160 pounds, you should drink at least 80 ounces of water per day. Water is life & it is essential for your health & well-being. Stay hydrated

GOOD VIBRATIONS CHIROPRACTIC

We have all heard the instructions of an airline attendant reminding us to put on our own oxygen mask before we help anyone else with theirs. This advice is often cited as a metaphor for self-care because it so accurately expresses why it is important. It seems to say, ironically that if you can’t take care of yourself for yourself, do it for others. Few situations in our daily lives mimic the wake-up call of an airplane emergency, so it’s easy to keep putting self-care off, that is, until we get sick, overwhelmed, or exhausted, and suddenly don’t have the energy to care for the people who count on us. That’s when we realize we haven’t been getting the oxygen we need to sustain ourselves. We begin to understand that taking care of ourselves is neither selfish nor indulgent; it’s just plain practical and necessary for thriving in life.

Putting yourself first means that it may be necessary to say no to someone else in order to say yes to yourself. For many of us, there is always something we feel we could be doing for someone else, and it helps to remember the oxygen metaphor. You can even encourage yourself by saying “I am caring for myself so that I am better able to care for others” or some other mantra that will encourage you. It also helps to remember that self-care doesn’t have to be composed of massively time-consuming acts. In fact, the best to take care of yourself is probably small, daily rituals; for example, taking one half-hour for yourself at the beginning and end of the day to meditate, going to the Chiropractor, writing in a journal, stretching or just being. You might also transform the occasional daily shower or bath into an opportunity to just relax.

Whatever you decide, take some actions where you put yourself first every day and it will pay off ten-fold for you and the ones you love. The oxygen you need is all around you; sometimes you just need to be reminded to take care of yourself and just breathe…

It’s a unique process. Healing is a process you go through. It’s not an event that happens to you. It’s not something someone else does to you. You are your own healer and the way you heal is to participate in your process as fully as you can. Chiropractic supports your healing process by enhancing the communication of energy from the Central Nervous System to your whole body.

Everybody’s process is different. No two are the same because no two people are the same. Everybody’s experience of life is unique. We may do similar things to bring about healing but our experiences of them may be very different.

There are many different options for healing. What you choose to do may be different than what other people choose. It doesn’t matter. There is no right or wrong way to heal. Do what resonates with you. There is only your way. It’s a choice & a healthy lifestyle that you create. Whether it is Chiropractic, yoga, eating healthy, meditation, thinking positive thoughts etc, one of the keys to the process is to be consistent , this is where you will see results & transformation.

Sometimes things happen in life over which we have no control. Sometimes we make unhealthy choices of the past that lead to not so great outcomes. Whatever the adversity, and however it was caused, it’s up to you to decide how you are going to respond. Each adversity is an opportunity to heal & grow on many levels. Healing is one of the most important reasons we are here. Ultimately healing is the reconnection of the body, mind & spirit.

Emotional stress is what we generally think of when we think of stress, but there are two other types.
It’s a well known fact that stress can rob you of your health and happiness. In fact, eventually it can even kill you. Most of the time when you think of stress, you think of the emotional kind, the kind that comes from too much to do, or a deadline you’re in danger of missing etc.

But that’s only one kind of stress; there are three different kinds.

Physical Stress

We are all prone to physical stress based on our lifestyle choices. You sit at a computer all day. Your child watches too much television or plays video games for long periods. You are overweight. Your posture is less than supportive. You’ve been involved in an automobile accident. You’ve been through the birth process.
All of these situations cause physical stress to the body that may compromise your nervous system and interfere with the ways in which your brain communicates with your body.

Chemical Stress

What are your eating habits? Soda & chips rather than water and fruit? How about where you live? Is there a lot of pollution, smog, unclean air, water with heavy metals? Do you eat a lot of fast food? Smoke cigarettes or drink too much alcohol? How about recreational or prescription drug use?

Frequent exposure to chemical stressors wreaks havoc with your nervous system and places continued “wear and tear” on your nervous system and your entire body, right down to the cellular level.

Emotional Stress

Economical problems, relationship problems, aging parents, a tyrant for a boss, death of a loved one, a new job, moving to a new location – all of these cause emotional stress. How you handle these situations?
The best way to cope with stress is to be aware of the three kinds, how they affect your life and how you choose to respond to them. You can choose to eat better, get more exercise, see a counselor, join a support group and come in for regular chiropractic care. One of the best ways to minimize the effects of stress is to increase your body’s ability to adapt, heal & grow by keeping your nervous system healthy – the goal of your chiropractic care at Good Vibrations ?.

In your neighborhood and in thousands of communities across the nation, Americans are answering our country’s call to service & are making a change. You have been taking amazing steps toward change by optimizing your health & wellness. This week our nation will come together in a shared spirit of community, and I wanted to support you in continuing to improve your life and health.

We can help rebuild our country by starting with ourselves. Gandhi’s statemement “Be the change you wish to see in the world” rings so loud & true in our day & age. We know what can happen when ordinary people turn their hopes into real action, something extraordinary blossoms.

One of the focuses for this presidential team is to improve our health care system. One of the ways in which they hope to do this is to increase access to chiropractic care. President Obama stated, “As we shift our health care delivery system towards a culture of wellness & disease prevention, I believe that Chiropractors must play an integral role in expanding access to preventive care & strengthening our public health system.” This statement puts you & Chiropractic at the forefront of health care. The grassroots movement that was created was always about more than an election. It’s about bringing much needed change to Washington and our communities.

Monday is not only the eve of an inauguration that brings us so much hope; it is also Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a day in which we honor the power of one man to bring about change by serving his country. You can help kick off an ongoing commitment to serve your communities by taking part in this extraordinary day of service.

Congratulations in taking action for your health, family, community & our country!

Rhythm of Life

Rhythm focuses on the principle of rhythm abstracted from the Hermetic Principles as defined by philosopher Hermes Trismegismus. The knowledge of this principle in nature and how it applies to oneself can bring about great internal harmony and health.

The essence of understanding “rhythm” is to know that there is always a rhythm going on in every aspect of one’s experience of life and health. These rhythms appear throughout nature in various cycles. There are seasons, monthly moon and tide rhythms, daily fluctuations of time, etc. There are also similar rhythms continuously flowing within the emotions, the feeling of inner expansion or contraction, business rhythm, etc.

“Creation & recreation, health and lack of health, ease and disease, good and evil, hot and cold, sweet and sour, long and short, high and low, etc., are all man-made terms. They are merely words which attempt to describe the relative expressions of energy through forms and are used in connection with the various states of evolving, revolving electronic and vibratory actions, functioning in their own respective degrees, fulfilling themselves where they belong in the scale of beings and things.”

-Rhythm Chapter, Concept Therapy Phase 3 Text

When we come to harmony with the fact that life occurs rhythmically, and not linearly, then we can begin to find a peace with how our lives actually operate, rather than an attempt to create only one experience in mind, mood, relationships, health, etc. What music & rhythms are you creating in your life? 
